Record group 83-43 consists of records (1965-1981) of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Parks Division documenting the use of prison labor for conservation projects done on state-owned lands. This program was administered by the Michigan departments of Corrections, Natural Resources and Social Services. The state legislature enacted the public law to organize such camps in 1949. The legislation was repealed in 1981.
